Ganesh Dutt Collge, Begusarai was established in 1945 in memory of Dr. Sir Ganesh Dutt, the renowned person of his time . It is a multi-faculty college providing education in Social Science , Natural Sciences, Humanities and commerce. It is spread-over an area of 25 acres. It is a constituent college of Lalit Narayn Mithila University, darbhanga. In the past, it was affiliated with Bihar Unversity and Bhagalpur Unversity before it came under the control of L.N. Mithila University in 1976. The unit cost of education including salarycomponent is approximately Rs. 7636/-. It is recognized by the University Grants commission under 128 and 2(f) and is getting the grants from the UGC as per rules.
Ganesh Dutt college, Begusarai volunteered to be assessed by the National Assessment and Accreditation council by submitting its self-study report. National Assessment and Accreditation council constituted an expert committee to visit the college and validate its report . The Peer team comprises of Dr. H. S. Soch, Former Vice-Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev Unversity, Amritsar, as chairperson, Dr. M.D.P. Rao, Retired Principal, Berhampur (Orissa), as Member Co-ordinator and Professor Subir Kumar Basu, Dean of Students' Welfare, Vidyasagar University, West Bengal, as member. The Peer Team visited the institution for two days from 19th to 20th August 2005. Dr. M. S. Shyamasunder, Deputy Advisor, NAAC monitored the visit of Peer Team Team Successfully.
The Peer Team carefully perused and analysed the self-study report submitted by the institution. During the actual visit, Peer Team went through the relevant documents, visited the departments and interacted with the various constitutes of the institution. The academic, co-curricular, extra-curricular, sports and other activities of the institution were looked into. The Peer Team interacted at length with the principal , the faculty, the students, non-teaching staff, parents and alumni of the institution.
Based on the above exercise and keeping in mind the criteria identified by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council , the Peer prepared the report for the purpose of Institutional accreditation.
